The Voz Institute Story

Founded in 2018 by clinic owner and founder Dr. Ana-Maria Jaramillo, The Voz Institute was built to provide high-quality, bilingual therapy services to children and adults across the DC Metro area.

We recognized the importance of evidence-based treatments,” says Dr. Jaramillo, “but we also wanted to provide care that truly prioritizes each patient’s individual needs and goals.

At The Voz Institute, you’re treated as an individual. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we take the time to understand your concerns and tailor your treatment accordingly. Our holistic, whole-person approach focuses not just on symptoms, but on supporting meaningful, lasting progress in everyday life.

In 2024, we rebranded from Voz Speech Therapy to The Voz Institute to reflect our expanded, multidisciplinary services. Today, we offer speech, occupational, physical, and feeding therapy—making it easier for you or your child to access comprehensive care under one roof.

Our clinic model is built on collaboration with you as your child’s primary caregiver, as well as with their teachers and other healthcare providers. This team-based approach allows us to support your child’s communication, motor, feeding, and overall development more effectively.

We offer services in both English and Spanish, based on your or your child’s needs.

What To Expect During a Therapy Session

If you’ve never experienced therapy before, you may be understandably curious about how it works.

It’s probably not a surprise that our approach varies depending on the service—whether we’re providing speech therapy for adults, or speech, occupational, physical, or feeding therapy for children.

Let’s take a closer look.

If you suspect your child has a speech, language, or feeding disorder, your first appointment will typically be a speech therapy evaluation. During this session, your child’s speech therapist will assess their communication skills across a range of areas to better understand what may be contributing to their challenges.

From there, your therapist will develop a personalized treatment plan using evidence-based strategies and activities designed to support your child’s communication and feeding skills.

Just as important is your role in the process. As your child’s primary caregiver, you’ll be guided on how to support progress at home and reinforce skills between sessions.

In many cases, speech therapy for children focuses on early intervention. Addressing concerns early can lead to stronger long-term outcomes in communication, learning, and social development.

Speech therapy for adults and older children also begins with an evaluation.

You may already have a diagnosis, or you may be seeking answers and support for symptoms you’ve noticed.

Your speech therapist will take the time to understand how these challenges impact your daily life and communication.

Together, you’ll develop a treatment plan tailored to your goals, lifestyle, and needs.

Sessions will focus on practical strategies and exercises to improve clarity, confidence, and overall communication.

With the right support, many adults are able to make meaningful improvements and feel more confident in everyday interactions.

Occupational therapists support children in developing the skills they need for everyday activities—often referred to as the “occupations” of childhood. This includes things like eating, playing, learning, and interacting with the world around them.

If you’re seeking pediatric occupational therapy, it’s likely because you have concerns in one or more of these areas.

Sessions begin with an evaluation, where your therapist will talk with you about your concerns and observe your child’s strengths and areas of need. From there, they’ll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s development.

The goal is to help your child build independence, confidence, and the skills needed to participate fully in daily life.

As with many therapies, early intervention can lead to more effective and lasting results.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping children develop strength, coordination, balance, and overall movement skills.

If your child is experiencing delays in milestones like rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, or walking, or if they have difficulty with coordination, toe walking, or recovering from an injury, physical therapy can help.

Sessions begin with an evaluation to assess your child’s movement patterns, strength, and mobility.

From there, your therapist will create a customized plan using play-based, functional activities to support development.

The goal is to help your child move more confidently, safely, and independently in their everyday environment.

Pediatric Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy supports children who have difficulty eating, drinking, or expanding their range of accepted foods.

This may include challenges with picky eating, limited food variety, difficulty with textures, oral motor coordination, or concerns about nutrition and growth.

Your child’s first session will include an evaluation to better understand their feeding patterns, preferences, and any underlying factors contributing to these challenges.

From there, your therapist will create a personalized plan to help your child build positive, safe, and confident feeding skills.

Caregivers are an essential part of this process, and you’ll receive guidance on how to support progress at home.

The goal is to make mealtimes less stressful and more successful for both you and your child.
